Focus DIY: taking the Michael

Just been Focused[Mini-rant] Focus DIY store closed their Crowborough doors a couple of weeks ago, with Tesco's grubby fingers poised to take over.

So it was a little bit rich to find a Focus advertising supplement stuffed through my front door. If I was was to take up on any of their "great savings for a great home" I would have to make a 46 mile round trip to Burgess Hill. [Rant-end]

Tes-go to Crowborough

The Focus DIY store is now half-dead, selling off it's odd ends of wallpaper and cracked toilets with a massive 20 per cent off. I made the mistake of visiting after being enticed by amazing offers in the local paper, none of which were in stock.

Don't go there, it's a waste of time.

Tescowborough

TescopolyTesco are rumoured to be buying the Focus DIY store in Crowborough, E Sussex. We already have three supermarkets in the town -- LIDL, Morrisons and Waitrose. Do we need a fourth?

This rumour hit the town a few weeks back, after a news item about supermarkets being given licence to expand ever more. That day, ITV news ran a report on Rye (also in Sussex), and how a local, independent store tried to buy land to expand its service, yet was thwarted when Tesco purchased a small strip of road near the site.

Every little helps (keep the independents from threatening).
